Faizabad Railway Station
Faizabad junction railway station forms one of the main sources of transport means in the city to travel to and from the city as it is also one of the vital railway stations functioning in Uttar Pradesh as well as North India. The Faizabad junction railway station was opened for public service in 1874 and after Independence till date the railway station is owned by the Ministry of Railways, Indian Railways. The station code of Faizabad railway station is “FD”. Initially, the railway belonged to the Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway fare zone, but at present it operates under the Northern Railways fare zone with the junction at Lucknow. The station is located on the Allahabad-Faizabad railway line. The station has a single track for train in a platform; there are a total of five platforms in the station. The station connects both the national capital Delhi and the state capital Lucknow apart from major cities in Uttar Pradesh like Allahabad, Kanpur, Jhansi, Varanasi and Gorakhpur, these cities can be reached from Faizabad in about 4 to 6 hours train journey.
Intercity trains runs between Faizabad-Allahabad and Faizabad-Lucknow. The weekly express trains from FD also connect Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Patna and Mumbai. The station is very close to its adjacent railway station in Ayodhya which is sited at the southern end of Faizabad at a distance of just 7 km from Faizabad junction railway station. Bareli airport is the nearest airport from Faizabad railway station at a distance of 1.8 km.

The main facilities of the Faizabad junction railway station are Baggage room, 24 hours ATM within station premise, Snacks-cum-refreshment canteens, waiting room, Retiring or dormitory room. A list of four trains starts from Faizabad railway station that is Faizabad Delhi express (14205), Saket express (11068), Faizabad superfast express (12564) and Faizabad-Bhopal-Indore train (19398). Apart from Faizabad-Bhopal-Indore train the rest of the express trains also terminates at Faizabad junction railway station.The Faizabad Delhi express (FD DLI EXP) train operates on all seven days in a week and it runs between Faizabad city and old Delhi with station stoppage at Lucknow, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Hapur and Ghaziabad.
The Saket express train runs between Faizabad city and Mumbai city through Pratapgarh and Sultanpur, it operates twice a week. The Faizabad Superfast express also connects Faizabad city with Mumbai, it operates only one a week and it connects Akbarpur, Shahganj, Jaunpur, Zafarabad, Janghai, Allahabad, Manikpur, Satna, Katni, Itarsi, Jalgaon, Nasik and Kalyan.
